Gut Health Recipes: Kefir Protein Smoothie

What is Kefir?

Kefir is a yoghurt-like fermented drink, made from kefir grains. It’s traditionally made from cow’s milk or goat’s milk, but there are non-dairy kefir options available.

Thinner in consistency than yoghurt, kefir is often consumed as a drink or as a kefir smoothie, making it the perfect addition to your protein shakes or smoothie bowls. Kefir smoothies provide you with a high level of good bacteria to help balance and keep your gut health in check due to the fermented milk.

As our gut microbiome is responsible for some of our key bodily functions, including digestion, brain function and metabolism, it can be beneficial to find ways you can improve your gut health. Many people turn to microbiome supplements to support a healthy gut, but you can also benefit from gut-friendly recipes and fermented food, like kimchi, miso and this kefir smoothie recipe featuring Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein Powder.

Our tasty protein powder is perfect for helping you to build and repair muscle while satisfying your taste buds with our delicious Vanilla, Chocolate and Vanilla Chai flavours. It’s made from plant-based raw whole foods and contains vitamins A, D, E and K.
